We had a Teddy Bear Day, and each student was able to bring their favorite bear to school. During the day we did an estimation jar with gummy bears, fiction and nonfiction stories about bears, compared real bears and teddy bears, learned bear facts, and created a story map of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Below is a photo of each student with their bear. They had to use capital letters to identify a proper noun (their bears name), used adjectives to describe how their bear felt and what color it was, and also used a ruler and for some bears a yard stick to measure their height.
This was such a fun day, and I am so happy to be able to share it with you. Recently I had a project from Donorschoose.org completely funded . I received an Epson Scanner for our classroom. The donors for our project included the company Epson covering fifty percent of the cost of our scanner, Elizabeth Gidley a woman who grew up in Howard and attended Moline Grade School, and a woman by the name of Cynthia from Olathe. A big thanks goes out to these wonderful donors for allowing me to do extra things for my students. This scanner will be a wonderful way for my students to share their great work with family and friends.
