Contraction Doctor

Today the First Grade Doctors performed surgery on contractions.  They had to cut out the parts that were no longer needed and band aid the contraction together.

Reader of the week - Gabriel

Gabriel was our first reader of the week.  Take a listen to how well he is reading.  Great job Gabe!  This clip is only part of his story.  Working on figuring out how to get the whole video on here.

Skittles Math

Today after our math test we were able to have yummy math time!  The students were all given a group of skittles that they had to sort by color.  After sorting they created a graph.  They used their data to determine which had the most or least, and even did addition with their data.  The last problem was adding three numbers, which is a task we just finished studying.  All students had a great time, and of coarse loved their snack!

Birthdays

Gabriel celebrated his birthday the first day back from break.  He was kind enough to give us all party favors.  We had some silly time with our hair extensions!!!

Today we have another party for Abigail, and then Monday for Lillian.  We will be all partied out by next week.  What fun!
Gabriel gave the girls hair extensions for a party favor

Gabriel gave the boys puzzles for party favors
Mrs. Haag even got a hair extension!  Awesome!!!

Grinch Day

Both First Grade classes got together to celebrate Grinch Day.  We read the book, watched the movie, and so much more!!!

The Grinch left a GREEN heart of cupcakes.
He also left GREEN licorice.
His heart was too sizes too small, so we filled him with kindness.
The students all brought a heart with something kind that they did over the previous week.
Those of you that have watched "The Prices Right" know all about this game.  Get a right answer and punch for a prize.  The students had to answer a comprehension question about the book to earn a prize.

Gingerbread Houses

During short weeks before holiday breaks, I always like doing something a little special.  They work so hard for me, that it was time for a reward day.  They enjoyed making Gingerbread houses.  Although a couple were dropped and broken before making it home.
